Description

Teltonika RUT200 is the entry level LTE 4G Router that provides a low cost 4G connectivity solution with Ethernet and WiFi.

Ideal for a wide range of 4G connectivity installations such as CCTV, Kiosks and ATM, the RUT200 is a compact, industrial grade 4G router with single SIM slot, 2 x Ethernet ports (LAN/WAN or LAN/LAN) and WiFi (802.11b/g/n).  Featuring the popular Teltonika RUTOS, and compatible with Teltonika RMS (Remote Management System), this low cost 4G router available from the 4G Router Store / Millbeck Communications is a great way to provide reliable and secure mobile broadband Internet for all kinds of remote management and monitoring applications.

If you just need a simple 4G internet connection without any remote access to the router or connected devices on the LAN then the RUT200 can use a standard 4G network SIM card such as the 3Mobile SIM with 1TB data available from Millbeck. Using a standard SIM will enable devices on the LAN to communicate out to the Internet to connect to use cloud based storage and reporting solutions and will enable the use of cloud based PC remote desktop solutions such as Teamviewer or Anydesk running on a PC or Small Single Board Computers (Raspberry Pi / Arduino / Toradex).  However you will not be able to directly connect to the public IP address of the RUT200 because most UK and European mobile phone networks utilise CGNAT so the public IP address is not directly allocated to your device but is a shared IP address.  This means that with a standard SIM card inserted in the SIM slot of the Teltonika RUT200 you will be unable to remotely connect to the router or use the firewall features such as port forwarding.

In order to connect directly to the cellular WAN IP address of the RUT200 router you will need a Fixed IP SIM Card.  In many cases users will opt for a Fixed IP SIM Card with a PUBLIC IP address.  This enables them to connect directly to the router from any device connected to the Internet.  This is handy especially if your devices on the LAN of the router need to be connected to using port forwarding and you need different users in different locations to access them.  For example, CCTV monitoring.  The Teltonika RUT200 compact 4G router uses the Teltonika RUTOS which provides a secure firewall to prevent unauthorised access to your router and if using port forwarding, please ensure that the devices on the LAN that will now be directly accessible using their relative ports are also password protected.

The alternative to a Public IP address on your fixed IP SIM is to use a Private IP Fixed IP SIM Card.  This will provide a connection on a private network and in order to connect to your router you will need to use a VPN to connect to the private network and then easily connect to the router and connected devices in the normal way.

Overall, the Teltonika RUT200 router from Millbeck 4G Router Store represents great value for a compact, secure and reliable 4G connectivity solution and because Millbeck are a Teltonika Distributor we can offer you competitive pricing, great service and a range of associated products and services such as 4G antennas, SIM cards and accessories.

Configuring the Teltonika RUT200 with a Fixed IP

Here is a video showing Teltonika RUTOS 7.05 and how easy it is to configure the router basics, such as configuring the APN (most Fixed IP SIM providers will require you to configure a custom APN inorder for the SIM to connect and the public IP to be allocated to the connection), how to enable remote administration, configure the Ping Reboot (4G is an always available service, NOT an always ON service so the Ping reboot feature enables the RUT200 to confirm it has a valid Internet connection and reboot and reconnect when the 4G connection is unavailable) and also configure port forwarding.

For Fixed IP SIM Cards we recommend using a Roaming / Multi-Network SIM card which will provide failover to an alternative network in the case that the primary network is unavailable.  Roaming SIM cards replace the need for an extra SIM card slot as seen on other Teltonika routers such as the RUT906 and RUT901 which provide the SIM failover to a second card.  In fact the majority of Dual SIM 4G routers sold nowadays will only have a single SIM slot used with a roaming SIM card.

The Teltonika RUTOS Web Interface will enable to to set a network as your preferred network so you can test each network for performance and then set your preferred network and if this became unavailable then the Teltonika RUT200 would let the SIM switch to an alternative network, thus ensuring a reliable 4G connection which has the advantage in most situations of being able to use all four UK mobile networks for failover, rather than just two networks in the case of the traditional dual SIM router which may have had an EE SIM card in slot 1 and an O2 SIM card in slot 2.  The RUT200 single SIM slot with a roaming Fixed IP SIM card can utilise all four UK networks so whether you want to use three, O2, Vodafone or EE, then the RUT200 with a roaming SIM is your ultimate 4G connectivity solution.
