RUT200 APN CONFIGURATION

Teltonika RUT200 SIM Cards Options

In the majority, our customers use the Teltonika RUT200 M2M 4G router for remote access and monitoring applications such as CCTV or BMS and will usually require an IoT SIM Card.  We offer various options depending upon the connectivity required to the router and the connected devices.

Fixed IP IoT SIM Cards with PUBLIC IP Address

Fixed IP IoT SIM Cards with PRIVATE IP Address (accessed via secure VPN)

The Fixed IP options above are usually provided in the form of a roaming SIM Card / Multi-Network SIM Card – this will provide the RUT200 with multiple connection options to different cellular mobile networks.

If remote access to the4G router is not required then a dynamic IP SIM card can be used.  Please note that due to CGNAT used by cellular networks, using a dynamic IP SIM card will not enable remote access to the RUT200, nor will Dynamic DNS / DYNDNS / DDNS services work.  However the Teltonika RMS platform will enable access to the router web GUI if you need to make router configuration changes.

SIM SIZES

The RUT901 4G Router is compatible with mini-SIM (2FF) size cards. But since different types of SIM cards have the same contact arrangement, smaller SIM cards can also be used with the router, provided they are inserted into a 2FF SIM card adapter. A size perspective of the most popular SIM card types can be seen in the figure below:

Teltonika FAQ

How do I access my Teltonika router remotely?

There are several answers to this question depending upon the reason you need to connect to your Teltonika router.

PORT FORWARDING / VPN SERVER

Many users of Teltonika routers will want to use port forwarding in order to connect to their devices on the LAN, for example, connecting to a CCTV NVR or IP camera, or maybe connection to a BMS controller.

In these cases you would need to know the public IP address of the router, and using a standard mobile broadband SIM card will not enable you to do this because of CGNAT.  You would need to use a Fixed IP SIM Card.  This is an IoT SIM card that is assigned with a fixed IP address, which can be a private IP address or public IP address.  The public IP SIM card can be access directly from the Internet, whilst connecting to a private IP address would require an initial connection your our network via VPN and then access to the private IP via the VPN link.  For example, businesses using the RUTM51 as their office router might need remote workers to connect via VPN so they would need a public IP address and a large data plan Fixed IP SIM.

ROUTER MANAGEMENT

If you don’t need to use port forwarding or use your Teltonika router as a VPN server, then you can use a standard dynamic IP SIM card.  If you need to access the router web interface to make router configuration changes, you can achieve this via the Teltonika RMS platform.  For a small monthly charge of around £1.00 per month per router you can use Teltonika RMS which will enable remote access to the router web interface.  NB : this does not provide the capability to use port forwarding.
